FAQ – Meeting points

This Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section provides essential information for visitors looking to book lessons, rent equipment, and plan their ski trips in Chamonix and Les Houches.

The FAQ covers topics such as lesson booking, ski pass options, transportation, equipment rentals, and safety measures. It also offers insights into local services and the importance of ski insurance and cancellation policies.

You can pick your instructor yourself (meet the team) or we will pick the instructor who suits your requirements.

4 years old for skiing and 7 years old for snowboarding.

We can pick up groups of up to 6 people for lessons starting at 9 am. If your lesson finishes at 4 pm, we can drop you off at your hotel or chalet at the end of the day.

For your convenience, we recommend that you wear your ski boots when we pick you up. Putting on your ski boots in the comfort of your accommodation is easier than trying to do so in the car park, where it can be tricky. Additionally, it’s important to note that once your lesson is finished, the instructor may need to teach another group, and as a result, regular boots cannot be stored in the instructor’s car.

1. Skis, boots, and poles.
or: A snowboard, boots and bindings.
2. Warm winter jacket and pants.

4. Goggles.
5. Gloves or Mittens.
6. Ski socks.
7. Sunscreen.
8. If you’re going off-piste with us, avalanche safety gear is included. (Transceiver, shovel & probe).

Always reserve your equipment in advance to ensure you get what you need at the best price.

You can rent skis/snowboards, poles, boots and helmets. Goggles and gloves should be purchased separately.

We recommend to rent your equipment with our partner, LocalCHX.

1)You can buy The Chamonix Pass if you are only skiing in Chamonix (Brevent, Flegere, Le Tour and Les Grands Montets). It covers all those resorts.

A beginner pass will do the trick if it is your first time skiing. It will cover the green slopes of the main resorts.
It is unavailable online but can be purchased directly at the lifts. (Savoy, Brévent, Flégere, Les Planards & Megeve).

2)If you plan to ski in Chamonix and Les Houches during your stay, you will need The Chamonix Unlimited Pass.

3) If you are only skiing in Les Houches, you can get a Les Houches Pass.

4) For Megeve, the Evasion Pass covers the entire resort; you will need an unlimited pass if you plan to ski in Chamonix during your week.

I recommend buying your passes online and using the vending machines at the resorts to withdraw them. You will get a much better price online than directly at the resort.

You didn’t get the chance to buy your passes online? Don’t worry; you can buy them at the cashier at the bottom of any resort.

While Chamonix’s public transportation system is incredibly convenient for travelling throughout the valley, it’s important to note that newcomers might initially find it a bit perplexing when determining which bus to board.

To make it simple, here’s a breakdown of the key bus lines:

  • Bus Line 1: Travels from Les Houches to Chamonix and continues to La Flégère.
  • Bus Line 2: Operates from Les Bossons, situated between Les Houches and Chamonix, to Chamonix and to Le Tour.
  • Bus Line 14: Connects Le Brévent and Les Planards, with stops at Chamonix Sud and Chamonix Centre.
  • Bus Line 17: Takes you from Le Brévent to Le Grépon.

Both Lines 14 and 17 offer frequent bus service to Le Brévent and Chamonix, with buses departing for Brévent or Chamonix every 10 minutes during peak hours.

  • Bus Line 19: Relies Le Brévent to La Flégère.

Each bus is clearly marked with its line number and its destination. Importantly, each line shuttles passengers between points A and B, as well as B to A. Be vigilant to ensure you don’t accidentally board a bus heading in the opposite direction!

If you still find the bus system confusing, please feel free to contact us when booking your lessons for further guidance.

You won’t be required to use ski poles during your first lesson. Your instructor will assess your progress, and if necessary, they will advise you on whether you should consider renting poles for future lessons.

In Chamonix, there are no lockers available at the slopes; however, you can utilize the convenience of free shuttle buses to transport your equipment back to your accommodation without the need for walking.

In Les Houches, lockers are available underneath the Prarion gondola.

Yes, you can purchase snacks, water, and lunch at the resort. Most ski resorts have dining facilities and cafes where you can find a variety of food and beverages to refuel during your day on the slopes.

Yes, we strongly recommend having insurance for your ski trip. You can purchase ski insurance for just 3.5€ per day when buying your ski pass. This insurance covers the following:

  • Search expenses
  • Rescue

  • Repatriation to the insured’s home
  • Reimbursement of emergency medical expenses

Ski insurance ensures you are covered in unforeseen situations or accidents on the slopes, providing peace of mind during your skiing adventure.
